Hi All,
I am new to Linux, although I started my career in Unix.
I decided to see if I could get an Old HP Atom with 2GB of RAM to boot from a USB Linux distro. With the help of Rufus I am away.... However one problem I have failed to solve is to get the sound working. My Notepad uses the Intel HDMI/DP LPE AUDIO device. I cannot access it in the BIOS and when I run ALSAMIXER in TERMINAL I get "This sound device does not have any controls". I have also checked the headphones and there is no sound there as well.
I have tried
ubuntu-19.10-desktop-amd64
ubuntu-18.04.4-desktop-amd64
I have previously tried this on MINT MATE, latest version and ZORIN, but thought I would come back to straight UBUNTU.
I have a horrible feeling that this sound device is not supported in Linux.
Thoughts?
Huge thanks in advance, and of course keep well,
Ed
