Stuck at boot of Mate 16.04 LTS on Raspberry Pi 2

Hello,

I'm having some troubles booting my R2 into Mate. My steps so far:

  1. Format 64gb sdcard to fat 32 using SDFormatter and Fat32Format
  2. Copy contents to sdcard using Win32Formatter
  3. Insert sdcard into pi, connect hdmi, connect power.

I did get NOOB successfully on the same sdcard, and install the official Pi OS to boot. Also tried a 16gb sdcard as well, using the same method above. No luck.

I get the following on screen:

Any ideas?

There is only one sd-card programmer you need, and that is the one in the downloads (installation help) section.
https://www.raspberrypi.org/documentati … n/noobs.md
The one you can find here:
https://www.sdcard.org/downloads/formatter_4/

Your card need to be no bigger than 32GB, you can format 64GB cards with this tool, but they will NOT be formatted in FAT32 formats, meaning that afterwards you need to format them again with another formatter, that reformats them to FAT32.
You still need the sdcard.org formatter, as this removes all superfluous partitions on the card that might be in the way, or using up space.
you also MUST use the overwrite format option.

Also consider your SD-card might be a fake, and try another one from a reliable source.
