Backstory:
I’m a very happy user of U/M 18.04.6 with Ubuntu Pro, which is free for personal use.
Being an older man I expect the supported period to outlast me AND want it to stay in good shape while I’m still around using it every day.
In keeping with my desires I believe in keeping the best possible means to restore it should there be any misadventure - and this relates to my chosen title here…
I use assorted media including an SSD & large capacity USB sticks to keep backups near to hand.
My preferred tools are:
- RescueZilla
- Macrium Reflect
- Timeshift
RescueZilla & Reflect are used via booting with a Ventoy stick & their ISO files - Timeshift is used from within the running OS.
With these backups on-hand recovery from a disaster (like trying some nasty appimage…) is as painless as possible.
Not to be gross…but I mention keeping a change of undies ‘cuz I’ve found that with my age there can happen an occasional ‘accident’ when out & about !!
Thanks for reading & Best Wishes to All !!
