Hello all, this is my first post here as I am just on the brink of making the switch to Ubuntu MATE.
I was wondering if anyone had found any workarounds to syncing an iPhone with the latest iOS (14.5 as of right now), and specifically adding music to it. I am fine with not syncing everything as I don't have much on my iPhone other than a lot of music.
Right now I am simulating 20.04 through a VirtualBox and tried some Rhythmbox workarounds that did not work. I can view my photos and some app files just by trusting the computer, but nothing else.
Wine is potentially an option but that didn't go very well either with the newest versions of iTunes.
Thanks for any replies!
You should be able to sync using Rhythmbox in place of iTunes. This article describes it. (About half way down)

Hi, thanks for the reply!
I had actually found that article and tried it earlier and when running the first command:
sudo add-apt-repository ppa:pmcenery/ppa
I get the following errors:
I searched for some fixes for those but couldn't find anything that worked.
Is it possible that my sync isn't working because I am simulating from a Virtualbox?
It is possible that the sync doesn't work because of the VM. What happens when you launch Rhythmbox and then connect your phone via a USB cable per steps 1 and 2 in the section "Syncing Your iPhone in Rhythmbox"?
Also, I noticed in your screenshot that the repository that provides the update to Libimobiledevice was unsuccessful. That isn't helping.
When I launch Rhythmbox and then connect my phone the only thing that happens is under Library an "Import Errors" section appears and shows two errors saying "Could not determine type of stream."
Yeah it looks like that repository is for an older version of Ubuntu from what I can tell.
This website had some good info, I will follow up and see if I can get it working on 20.04.
