I installed Ubuntu MATE 18.04 and since then the thumbnails generated for text archives from pluma doesn't appear anymore. It was appearing normally on Ubuntu MATE 16.04.
Any ideas?

Hi @urbancompasspony - I notice on your screenshots that the Before has extensions in the files, but the After does not. I wonder if that’s related?
If it still doesn’t work, it may be a bug… There were recent changes to how caja renders the icons, so that could cause a problem.
I’m not currently at my computer, so I can’t verify either of these hypotheses, but please let me know if adding the file extensions fixes the issue.
Hi @vkareh thanks for replying.
I was trying with extensions but it still doesn’t work ;/
As u said, It may be a bug or just something missing, that will be added later.
Someone said that GTK purged text thumbnail since Jan/2017, I think it will be something new
to Caja devs to make working again (if they want, of course)
okay, yeah I see the issue. I can’t see the thumbnails on my side either…
While it’s possible that it’s a bug in Caja (or a feature removed, but the option is still in the preferences), IIRC it depends on the icon theme. It’s quite possible that the parent theme used by Ambiant-MATE (Humanity) removed the related files and it affects Caja.
EDIT: nope, the text-x-preview.icon seems to be still there, so it might well be a bug in Caja. Or a feature removed from GTK as said by @urbancompasspony but in that case, the option in Caja’s prefs could as well be removed.
Someone from Ubuntu MATE Development watch these posts?
I know this bug is not something serious, I just want to know if they know about the problem and if they are working on it. I love Ubuntu MATE but want everything working fine too!
I’m a Python programmer, trying to figure out how to fix this… just want to know if it’s something fixable or this will be purged completely from the system.
Sorry if I’m sounding insensitive or crude, english is not my main language.
No worries, your English is just fine!
I’m part of the development team. A few weeks ago we changed how caja renders icons so that it can support HiDPI displays. I’m wondering whether that caused the problem (it’s quite possible, actually). I made a note in my to-do list to take a look at this, but we’re a small team, so it might take a while before I get to it.
