The "break into..." (& related) wallpapers

Sometimes you don't set out wanting to go down a particular road and yet somehow you end up on it anyway. Such was the case this afternoon when I was making screen shots of a Linux app that I recently released, running on top of Ubuntu MATE (which I'm hopelessly in love with BTW, despite being happily married to Linux Mint MATE). Anyway, as explained in a post made to the thread where Steve provided his fabulous wallpapers for UM, I somehow got sidetracked and started making a wallpaper which -- as luck would have it -- was based on one of Steve's wallpapers (see my post in Steve's thread). I was so taken aback by how well my creation turned out considering how little experience I have with Gimp (I was really just goofing around) that I thought I'd share it here and that's when I learned that it was Steve's wallpaper that I had actually started with, lol.

Edit: Since posting this message, I've added additional wallpapers.

the original...

"witness the beauty"

"break into perfection"

The following is a kind of reverse "mac envy" wallpaper...

"break into success"

And of course, synonymous with breaking out of bondage is...

Very nice, in fact have already downloaded and using as my wallpaper now, thanks!

Thanks @Kri5! I’m glad you liked it! If you (or anyone else for that matter) has other slogans they’d like me to try, or ideas on how to improve overall, let me know. The above are just ideas. A “witness the power” slogan seems like one obvious possibility.

Fantastic! Especially sayings you “have little Gimp experiece.”

I really like the 3rd one. The green gradient is very well done and the torn paper is super.

I’ve never played with Gimp but I think it’s pretty similar to Paint.net which I use often.

Thanks for sharing.

Thanks @Amused! Yeah, I really don't have much experience using Gimp being as I've only done a handful of relatively minor "projects" using it and this one is a lot less significant than it looks as I started with the images as combined below and I really just kind of "bumbled" my way through this by doing lots of experiementing (making heavy use of undo/redo). I wish I could take credit for the original images but I can't -- I'm just the "incorporator". I think I like the 3rd image best also. It makes the most sense of all from a "marketing" standpoint (though the 2nd isn't bad in that regards). Lol! I've also used paint.net (during my former "Windows" life).
