Thinking caps needed

I have an Amazon fire stick.

It is plugged into HDMI 2.

My computer is plugged into HDMI 1.

When I put my computer into suspend, all goes as planned.

Then I switch to HDMI 2 in order to view movies, etc. I am currently watching the last Star Wars movie.

If I accidentally bump my keyboard, my computer wakes up.

Is there a way to stop that?

Yes, it is supposed to do that... at least if you bump one of its keys.

If you bump it without touching the keys it is not supposed to wake the computer. If it does, it needs repairs.

There is a high probability that when you bump your keyboard , your mous gets bumped too, even if it's only a fraction that would be enough to wake the computer

Besides not touching keyboard and mouse ?

The official way (complex)

The easy way out:

  1. unplug the mouse or put it on a shelf
    or
  2. repair or unplug the keyboard
    or
  3. poweroff instead of sleep mode

If you disable the keyboard and mouse on a laptop, make sure you have a USB mouse around to enable it. I did that once accidentally and didn't have a mouse to plug in. Had to go buy one.

I feel that poweroff instead of sleep mode wears out the computer faster than sleep which stores everything in RAM.

I looked at that page.

I have a wired keyboard and mouse.

Why buy batteries when you do not need to?

I think putting the mouse on a shelf is a good idea. I will built a simple shelf on my table
that holds my computer.

I took a table and secured it to the floor with some coated screws that I have tons of.

The landowner had to space out the trailers more and he moved them with his dooly.

Without those screws, my table may have tipped over.

Computer chips die because of thermal stress/strain of heating/cooling and chemical atom "migration". That is what kills a computer. That is why I wanted to have fixed CPU Frequency one step back from max, to eliminate TEMP cycling except for power-down/up.

If you have concerns about power-off, those apply equally to sleep. The only way to avoid it is to leave power on!

I am not worried about power off.

In a sleep state:

  1. Only a minimal amt of power is used
  2. The components not in use will last longer before they die
  3. It produces less pollution (I used to work for a large electric utility in Houston,Tx
  4. With the power on, it is possible for someone to hack into (low probabilty compared to Windows.
  5. To be filled in later
