Thinkpad FN key issue

Just downloaded ubuntu mate 17.10 and I noticed that when I use the FN key, especially FN+space (but also sometimes in other combinations), it suspends/hibernates my laptop. For reference I am using a thinkpad x230. I have tried a variety of distros on this laptop and have never had this issue before, although my FN key does seem to stop my wifi in some distros, which it also does in Mate.

Has anyone else experienced this? Is there a known solution?

Thanks in advance!

Hi @apeescape,

have you checked the keyboard shortcuts to see what is assigned to what?:

Control Centre > Hardware > Keyboard Shortcuts.

Thanks for the tip @wolfman ! I checked it, and there was no mention of suspend or of the function key… That’s what’s confusing me.

Hi @apeescape,

there won’t be a mention of the FN key, I was thinking more along the lines of what key is controlling suspend/hibernate as an example!.

Ok thanks. I couldn’t find what was controlling suspend/hibernate, but I ended up switching my DE, because there were a few other things that weren’t working quite right. Thanks anyway!
