Top menu does not work for qt apps

I am running ubuntu mate 16.04 and the top menu works for most applications. Some application however do not work like. When I say do not work, what I mean is the menu bar of these applications do not show up in my panel. Instead they just occupy the top portion of the window just below the title bar. That is the top menu doesn’t work with these apps.

  1. Firefox and Thunderbird,
  2. Libre Office
  3. Vlc

While checking for package i see only libtopmenu-client/server-gtk3/2 but nothing for qt. Is any development going on to support this applet for qt apps too?

Hi,

all the above listed apps should work as they do here, have you run any fixes in:

Top Panel > System > Welcome > Software > Fixes?:

I am sorry for being ambiguous. What I meant is that the apps work but their menu bar doesn’t show up in the panel, as it should when the topmenu applet is added to the panel.

I believe Qt applications are not supported in the top menu applet, which includes LibreOffice.

Topmenu has support for mozilla and qt applications but they currently are not available for 16.04 the last build is for 15.10 and requires dependencies that are not available in the 16.04 version, sorry.

Well Libreoffice integrete in TopPanel in cinnanon… I don’t know how to make it works, otherwise I’ve already done. But, only to see want I’ talkink about loo out:

Hi @brunocarv,

in the normal standard Mate DE; basically nothing will show in the top panel when it is running, apps like LibreOffice and FireFox will show in the bottom panel when running!. As far as I know, this is normal for a standard Mate DE?.

There is a extension the make works for Qt, bus Libre still doesnt works
