Transmission do not open

Hi

UM26.04 here. Kernel 6.18

Transmission do not open. Can’t open torrents.
I uninstalled and reinstalled, with no effect.

Thanks to those having an idea.

p.s. same with Webcamoid (didn’t try unstall/reinstall this one). Conflict with Nvidia, I guess

Ubuntu [MATE] 26.04 LTS doesn't yet exist; it's currently Ubuntu [MATE] resolute and still in alpha.

I'd run it at terminal, and see if any messages are there; eg.

guiverc@d7050-next:~$   transmission-gtk 
MESA-LOADER: failed to retrieve device information
MESA-LOADER: failed to retrieve device information

glx: failed to create dri3 screen
failed to load driver: i915

That last line doesn't look expected to me; thus I'd be filing a bug report; that's why the alpha and beta products exist; so people can test and report bugs with it, and those reported bugs can be fixed, prior to the resolute system being released as Ubuntu [MATE] 26.04 LTS in April 2026.

All testers of unreleased or unsupported products are welcome, but if you discover issues, please report the bugs (on bug trackers) so they can be fixed (bug trackers so they can be tracked & not missed prior to release)

FYI: I wonder if the example I provided is your issue; as transmission-gtk I expected to start here, alas it didn't. Whilst I can run transmission on this box (or at least get the window open & looking correctly; I've not downloaded a torrent so haven't used it), I do wonder if it not opening in my command line example is your issue & thus needs reporting.. If you do report a bug, I'll likely add the me too and a comment on the bug report.

I might be imagining things, but I thought I read something about improving/expanding Apparmor "coverage" in one of the notes about the Ubuntu 26.04 LTS features/planning.

Nothing comes to mind.

Lots of what I read (which is almost everything official from Ubuntu teams; though some is only skimmed) I just don't remember, either as it doesn't really impact me or I don't find it interesting (graphics stack). Exceptions are often wording/spelling related though, eg. in summaries for UWN; 'Apparmor' would be a word I'd type somewhat slowly/deliberately so as to not mistype, with this tending to aid my recall; alas this mostly just means we didn't 'highlight' in the Ubuntu Weekly Newsletter.

26.04 is indeed Alpha.It works pretty well on this laptop, though. Signaling ‘irritants’ here in case it has been solved somewhere by someone. And for info, too.

On terminal I did ‘aa-status’. It tells me: 208 profiles are in enforce mode and and Transmission appears in the list.
