Ubuntu 26.04 Now Shows Sudo Password Asterisk Feedback

" Ubuntu 26.04 LTS finally breaks the longstanding security tradition by now displaying the asterisk feedback when typing sudo password in terminal or command console.

As you know, most Linux distributions by default do not show any feedback when user is inputting password in terminal or any other command console for sudo authentication.

This is NOT friendly for users who are new to Linux. User may think something (either keyboard or system) is broken and get stuck at the password input, and, some even report it as a bug. (...)"

As an official flavor will this come to Ubuntu Mate too?
Good, bad or indifferent?

Probably feeling indifferent. I agree * is friendly, but I guess I am use to the lack of feedback and appreciated why it was like that when I got my first sudo prompt.

I'm so used to the way it's been if I noticed * when I was typing my password in terminal I'd think something was wrong!

The only thing I can see is it might give a hacker a clue to how many characters are in a password, but that isn't a lot of help. So really I am pretty indifferent.
