Ubuntu for desktops - Secure With a built-in firewall and virus protection software

Reading from http://www.ubuntu.com/desktop page.

"Secure

With a built-in firewall and virus protection software, Ubuntu is one of the most secure operating systems around. And the Long Term Support releases give you five years of security patches and updates."

I have found the built in firewall but have yet to discover the control panel for the “built in Virus protection”.

I see from the FAQ that “Ubuntu MATE 15.04 and onward are official Ubuntu flavours.”

Was this function removed for Mate 15.10?

Wolfman,
Thanks… that was informative…

Do you have any experience with ClamAV?

I see that pfSense has a package called HAVP that uses ClamAV to scan in real-time.

Hi Dave,

I only use Clamav when I am transferring files to a Windows PC, otherwise I don’t really use it, if I have something as an attachment via Thunderbird, I also scan it!.

Here is a PDF review if you are bored:
