Ubuntu MATE 16.04.1 LTS no boot with Asus USB-AC51

I ordered the USB-AC51 Wireless adapter, Dual-Band Wireless-AC600 from Newegg a couple of weeks ago. I am having the following problems after following the directions supplied in the file Quick Start DPO.txt found on the CD supplied with the adapter.

The driver compiled and installed without error. When I rebooted with the adapter plugged in, a screen full of error messages were generated. The last line of which stated “Fixing recursive fault but reboot is needed”. I have looked in what I think are all of the log files and cannot find this phrase any where. This occurs after Grub.
