Ubuntu MATE 20.04 beta images for Raspberry Pi 4 will be available soon

see https://youtu.be/PWss0jjdR8U for detail.

They're available now I believe.

I downloaded (via torrent)
ubuntu-mate-20.04-beta1-desktop-arm64+raspi.img.xz
on Tue 14 Jul 2020 11:18:03 AM PDT
twice and tried to verify both times the sha256sum of the file.

Both times I got
233c268963637c94a3527b90fce3cf74eeaaf03e9d3a5623457b4b2412778daa ./ubuntu-mate-20.04-beta1-desktop-arm64+raspi.img.xz

but the download page gives a different sha256sum value
Filename |ubuntu-mate-20.04-beta1-desktop-arm64+raspi.img.xz
SHA256SUM 82019e65bf836c10a7f4f787757e6f317ea8b9508f15ee23d25a85ef5107e9bc

After the first discrepancy, I deleted the file and downloaded again, figuring that an error had been introduced. It seems unlikely that the 2nd download would have the same SHA256sum if an error happened.

Can anyone check their copy of this file to see if the website is wrong? I'm on a private network doing this.

thanks, Jeff

ETA: direct download gives the same sha256sum as the torrent

Yep, likewise. I tried it twice directly and then torrent. I even tried checking the hash of the extracted (dot)img file and even that wasn't close.

Can you report bugs for this image in this thread?

Thank you @darkrei for checking.

I'm new here, but it would make sense for me to start a new thread, I think.

It might be for the best.

Youtube video does not show that this was tried on an 8GB RPi4. That's what I have and the install setup program (233 hash, arm64 file) crashes after setting locale. I'm not able to log in after rebooting so the install is definitely corrupted in this state.

Crash happens while setup scrolls through information pages with spinning cursor. Same result with 2 downloads and 3 tries.

If this is not the place to report issues, please someone point me to one that does NOT involve use of a social media account login.
