Hello!
I wanted to try Ubuntu MATE to find out what version of MATE it ships, but I couldn't find the ISO on the server.
Someone has heard about it?
I made a post about it on the Lubuntu discourse.. but wasn't going to here until we had an actual ISO beta release.
Ubuntu 24.10 (Oracular Oriole) Beta has released, which includes flavors too...
https://fridge.ubuntu.com/2024/09/21/ubuntu-24-10-oracular-oriole-beta-released/
Ubuntu 24.10, codenamed “Oracular Oriole”, continues Ubuntu’s proud tradition of integrating the latest and greatest open source technologies into a high-quality, easy-to-use Linux distribution. The team has been hard at work through this cycle, introducing new features and fixing bugs.
This Beta release includes images from not only the Ubuntu Desktop, Server, and Cloud products, but also the Edubuntu, Kubuntu, Lubuntu, Ubuntu Budgie, Ubuntu Cinnamon, UbuntuKylin, Ubuntu MATE, Ubuntu Studio, Ubuntu Unity, and Xubuntu flavours.
The Beta images are known to be reasonably free of showstopper image build or installer bugs, while representing a very recent snapshot of 24.10 that should be representative of the features intended to ship with the final release expected on October 10th, 2024.
Some 'flavors' may have their official 'beta' image available in a few days, as mentioned in the announcement towards the bottom
Ubuntu Cinnamon, Ubuntu MATE and Ubuntu Unity are still in the process of completing their fixes and testing, and might follow up on Monday.
An example of an issue with MATE can be see here which has been resolved you'll note by @Wimpy, but the release of a beta ISO for the three remaining flavors isn't expected until Monday as was mentioned in the 24.10 beta announcements.
Thanks @guiverc for this detailed answer! I wish I had answers like this one every time ^^
So, I'll be waiting. I really hope it's the version released last February.
This issue provides some interesting information: the slick-greeter
is back.

I tried the daily built and it's MATE from October 2023 =/
Version 1.26.3 where there are 1.28 (February 2024) and 1.26.4 (July 2024).
Dommage
That maybe an indication that Ubuntu Mate needs more contributors!
More volunteers to help grab upstream code and package it for Debian sid (so as to flow back to Ubuntu MATE as has been done many times before by Ubuntu MATE developers) OR just package it just for Ubuntu repositories for Ubuntu MATE directly.
Maybe my own answering the initial question for this thread, and yours is also a clue, given a quick look at who I am will highlight Ubuntu News, another flavor and only user in regards Ubuntu-MATE (with some QA).
What teams can produce, is rather limited by the number of people who offer their time, energy and skill, in helping advance a project.
If anyone would like to step up & help contribute to Ubuntu-MATE, or in fact any Ubuntu project (or even wider Open Source too), please do so.
Hi, @Mejans ... and everyone else
Following up to @guiverc's previous nice reply in this topic, I'm writing this post to tell that apparently the BETA version of "Ubuntu MATE 24.10" ("Oracular Oriole") has indeed been released today (Monday, 23rd September 2024). Here's the link for the download:
You can check the packaging progress here, @Mejans :

1.28 is not uploaded yet.
