So I’ve got Raspian Jessie running and Chromium installed and have found that I am having a problem viewing web java applets. I have some cheap Trendnet home security cameras that have the option of either viewing an ActiveX viewer or Java viewer. I’ve been trying to view these security cameras in Raspian and have not been successful so far.
If I load Ubuntu Mate on my RPi2 would I have the same problem? Is there a Firefox installation that I could potentially run IcedTea for viewing these security cameras?
By the way, I am also considering buying a RPi3. Perhaps this would be a better choice with what I am trying to do?

I haven’t got that DNS server running yet on the RPi2 as mentioned in the post but I do have a FTP server running with image grabs from those security cameras with off site backup.
