Ubuntu MATE Software Boutique hangs

Hi!
Just installed Ubuntu MATE 32-bit bionic on my dual-boot PC with a view to permanently moving away from Windows.
Obviously need to download some apps so I tried running the Software Boutique and it hangs - initially it displays the coat hangers with the message ‘Stocking the Boutique’ but then just hangs. When I click somewhere else on the destop the window goes completely blank.
Any ideas anyone?

Hello and welcome, could be a hardware issue you might want to share what specs your running on this machine. I see it’s a 32-bit so that tells me it’s a old machine

Something lighter might run better on this machine like Lubuntu

Hi
Thanks for your reply.
I doubt that’s the issue as all other software runs absolutely fine.
Anyway it’s a Pentium Dual Core E5400 2.70GHz with 2GB DDR2 memory 2MB cache

What kind of GPU do you have? Asking in case it’s the same issue as there. (Don’t pay attention to my message in the thread, check the one from Misko_2083.)

It’s Intel® G41 chipset.
Tried Misko2083’s suggestion but no success, but I do think it’s a driver / OpenGL issue.

Well, what do you get with the following command?

glxinfo | grep -i "opengl"

Here is full output from glxinfo | grep -i ‘OpenGL’

It is a bug of some sort.
