Unable to connect to hotel WiFi on desktop computer

I will start with a Linux question.

I am living in a hotel. My car is having a radiator replaced.

(And which I will be living in while continuing my search for some kind of home.)

The hotel has WiFi, but it only connects on my Android phone.

Not on a desktop system that my daughter and I set up in my hotel room.

I have not a clue as to what to check for.

Can someone help me please.

Andy

I don't know enough to say if this is true but

  • Does the hotel Wifi operate in such a way that you are only allowed one single connection, and that your phone is monopolizing it, thereby preventing your computer from establishing the link?

As I said, I don't deal with wifi, so I don't know anything about what can/cannot be.

Sorry to hear that you had to relocate ... yet again!

Also, I would encourage you to go over some of your ealier postings about Wifi connections to see if there is any of those instructions/sequences which you could revisit for your current situation ... and try those to see if they could help you?

Boost Mobile is a 4th tier cell phone provider.

The signal strength is often times very low.

I switch to airplane mode for 10 seconds and then turn it off.

That usually gives me some internet capability.

They also connected me to the AT&T towers.

And when I am in any place with free WiFi, I use that.

My radiator replacement and battery replacement started out at $1170.

The final bill was $741. I could afford that.

I do not mind living in my car for a while. I got some tips from some homeless guys I know.

I have a heated blanket that runs off a cigarette lighter outlet.

Take care.

You could tether to your phone (via USB)? I've done that in the past when my home wifi is down for maintenance.

Have you checked if you've got an antennae for Wi-Fi that is connected to your computer? https://www.reddit.com/r/buildapc/comments/u44u8m/do_pcs_need_wifi_antennas/

Here are some more information on that:

Didn't you mention, a while back, that you removed an antenna from the computer's back panel?

N600 Wireless Dual Band PCI express adapter

I put it on Ebay.

I am not sure what I used it for.

Previously, I think you had wired Intenet, so had no need for it.

If you still have it, you can plug that back in your computer and reconfigure the network/wi-fi to serve your new-found purpose!

I still have it. This is filler material.

Succinct is not a bad thing.
