The other thing you could do would be to use Plank as a dock along the left edge, then it functions even more like Unity.
EDIT: Unfortunately you can’t run the mate-menu from plank though so that breaks the theme a little.
There is a Mac like launcher called slingscold . If you use docky you can drag its icon in docky .
but sinse docky or mate panel does not have a option to set the wight to a spesific size like xfce-panel it looks realy ugly
Yep. That’s why I ended leaving plank on the bottom.
I also installed synapse.
