I just had a weird experience. I've installed Ubuntu MATE 24.10 on an older Lenovo ThinkPad Yoga 11e and have been quite pleased with it. Until a day or so ago when I wanted to close the lid, I would Suspend
the system via system (upper rightmost) menu. But, since it's a laptop, I figured that it would behave as laptops do when the lid is simply closed while the system is active. Yes, it does.
However, this time when I opened the lid up and the system came back to life, it presented me with a login screen that would not accept any keyboard input. The touchscreen responded (but no keyboard) and it would recognize when the CAPS LOCK key was pressed, but even double-tapping the entry field with my fingers would highlight it, but would not accept any input. My only recourse was to power crash the machine and reboot. Yeah, that's not the most kosher way of recycling, but it was all that was available to me.
It's back and running again, but I'm now thinking it's best to suspend before closing the lid.
I'm not asking for help, but feedback. Is this a known issue, or just an oddity?
