Update crash on boot

I did the latest update and on the reboot it gets to the 3rd dot on the screen and it locks up. I’m using a Lenovo T16.I’m using 22.04.5 LTS I’m trying to figure out what to do. If I have to do a re-install how can I copy my Home folder onto my backup. I cannot access my home folder because I don’t permissions in try mate Thanks in advance

If you are using the Live ISO, and you don't have permissions to access your home folder, am I correct in assuming that you may have UEFI and Secure Boot turned "on"?

If so, you may need to consult with the wider community of experts on the main Ubuntu Discourse site, for guidance on what to do to bypass the security lockouts (Bitlocker ???) preventing your access to the disk.

I have that problem on a new HP computer and don't yet know myself how to resolve and get around that.

I need to get assistance directly from HP themselves.

What I did was install Mate along side of previous install and I was able to access the drive and do A backup. I was afraid of the same thing happening to the LTS again I installed Ubuntu MATE 25.10 and I have no issues
