Updater did not work. Error message said it could not with some kind of tool? I rebooted and it would not load with a dreaded interim black screen. Hours of creating my system down the drain.

There are plenty of folks here that can help. However we need alot more information in order to do so.
How did you perform the upgrade?
What were the exact error messages?
Can you access the system via a TTY?
What hardware are you using?
The more information you can give us the more help we can get you.

PS:. I will be installing Ubuntu Studio 20.4. I use Ardour and had it working on mate, but I think studio might better suit my needs. I liked mate because of better graphics. I also noticed on mate, before the crash, when trying to update through terminal using the Su command, it did not do anything. Syyu did nothing either. Is that because there is no longer any support correct? I did see the do-release-update command but did not have the chance to try it. I will study up again as it has been some time using the terminal. Either way, I will get back to you. Thanks again.
