Okay, it seems I got a little confused. My apologies.
By design, Ubuntu updates can only happen to the next release so:
- 18.04 LTS → 18.10 or 20.04 LTS
- 19.10 → 20.04 LTS
But not:
- 18.04 LTS → 20.10
- 19.10 → 20.10
So actually, you're right in that we need -d
. Though, the -d
won't be necessary once [somebody or robot] at Canonical HQ enables updates to show in Software Updater. Currently it doesn't show for me in 19.10, and I know LTS releases wait for the first point release (.1)
