Hi. I started with Jammy and decided to upgrade to Noble, even though I was clear until 2032. The upgrade was perfect. I read in this forum that someone noted that forums mostly had problems to be solved, so they wanted to change the conversation to good things, so they wrote a post about the flawlessness of their upgrade; I want to do the same thing!
Alas, the hope that after the upgrade Cairo Dock would work as it used to, did not happen. Since the last time CD worked for me was with Focal, that is what I downgraded to; once again, with a backup of my Home directory on an external drive, the process was as easy as pie. For some strange reason, CD did not work on the same OS it used to, so then I upgraded, and again the process was perfect (I even got the Latte Dock working due to Jammy, instead of Focal as the OS; I didn't spend much time with 20.04) I am now wondering if I should upgrade to Noble for the next LTS--after this journey, I am sure the process will be without any problem, but what about the Latte Dock or something else? I have Steam games. Why risk it when I am covered until 2032 with Ubuntu Pro? Anyway, for all this upgrading/downgrading, the process was just perfect.

Thank you for sharing your experience!
My Cairo-Dock installation has survived several LTS 2 LTS upgrades flawlessly. And it is still present in 24.04 repositories.

Hi. Yeah, the Cairo Dock thing is probably due to some setting on this computer--I kind of modified it somewhat. Mate Tweak still provides lots of looks with the Latte Dock replacing Cairo.
