Upgrades to non LTS versions

I am posting this as I don’t think I got an answer previously. If I upgrade 24.04 to 26.04 Non LTS, could I then upgrade 26.04 to 28.04 or do I need to upgrade each release?

Ubuntu 28.04 LTS is so far in the future, we'll only be guessing at what changes will occur between now & then.

I've missed the last three flavor sync meeting for family reasons, and that has put me behind on a number of things in regard resolute or 26.04, let alone the little of hinted hopes for the next two year full development cycle we were given.

Either way, the Ubuntu Release Upgrader tool uses your release (ie. 26.04 or resolute) and works from there, ie. it's the base OS that is starts with, and using current procedures, and currently that means it would upgrade a prior [LTS] release (26.04) to the then current [LTS] release (28.04) IF the upgrade path had been opened (ie. it was after .1 AND Ubuntu Release Team had enabled upgrade path at meta release file. The packages you have installed (eg. MATE desktop packages) would also be upgraded.

Of course that's not the whole procedure; as each release-upgrade has a specific and somewhat unique set of procedures; but these won't be known about until a good way through the 28.04 development cycle (I don't even know what unusual procedures exist for resoluteupgrades yet; too early!)

so the upgrade path will remain the same - so when I install 26.04 I can wait till 28.04 and upgrade then. Reasons for me wanting to wait is that while I enjoy the upgrading process, I like to keep my daily driver to be as stable as possible

I don't have access to a tardis that can travel thru time, nor a crystal ball, thus all I can give is what I expect. I've seen nothing thus far that would make me expect anything different.
