Upgrading from mate 15.10 to 16.04.1

After my notebook crashed the only disk I had handly was ubuntu mate 15.10. Software update tells me there’s no longer support for that version, so I will have to upgrade to 16.04.1 I wonder will I have problems with Wifi afterwards? I had LAN connection to do installation & updates / upgrade, but later network point will be no longer available, only wifi. If I do the upgrade, will I lose my wifi configuration, passwd, etc?

If you burn the 16.04 ISO to a usb stick you can boot into the USB live edition and test the wifi connection before installing.
