Upgrading Mate from 15.04 to 15.10 on Raspberry Pi crashes and corrupts the SD card

Hi all,

Anyone else had trouble upgrading the RPi2? I received a timeout operation upgrading one of the packages which locked the GUI up. Doing a hard restart found lots of file system errors and resulted in a black screen lockup. Each boot now ends very quickly in a kernal panic:

Kernal panic - not syncing: VFS: Unable to mount root FS on unknown-block(179,2)

Thoughts? I’m going to have to re-flash my SD card as I need the box back up quickly and won’t be able to do any further testing on it.

Don’t try upgrading to Pi version, it simply won’t work and will also take hours. Is it possible you filled to microSDHC card.

Install latest updates to Ubuntu Mate 15.10 without reinstalling entire OS again?

Hi,

The SD card had plenty of space on it ~13gb free. If the upgrade isn’t going to work then the option needs removing from the system.
