Upgrading to MATE 1.12.0 (or not)

Hi friends, being a newbie and all, I often feel like some of my questions may put me in a category of utter absurdity; but here goes another: I am just finding out that the MATE desktop environment has been updated to version 1.12.0, and that the new version is said to bring improvements (although I, perhaps, may not be able to recognize them :astonished: ). My version is currently MATE 1.10.2, and I was wondering If there is a simple way of upgrading - or if I even would benefit, potentially?

Thanks!

Here is what I have:

Hi mated,

I would wait for the next LTS release (Ubuntu Mate 16.04) and I would think that once all the problems with it are sorted out, it will be a part of the next release?.

If it becomes stable in the meantime, it may find its way into the Ubuntu repo’s and update with your system updates anyway but I am not sure!.

If you like living dangerously, you can add the commands from the following page but remember it is a “dev” version so consider it unstable!:

Hah, thanks @wolfman, and all, for putting up with me :smiling_imp:.

I’m pretty sure I give you all enough head-scratching activity without throwing unstable devs in my mix. Keeping things simple will do for now; notwithstanding, the useful knowledge is worth its weight in gold!

Thanks!
