I upgraded to 24.04 LTS from 22.04 LTS on line in three PCs and I am experiencing many issues, so I decided to try on one of them a clean install through an USB live because there these issues have become quite problematic. I went to the downloads site in here and I have seen that all 24.04 have been archived. I checked Canonical and there is a ubuntu mate 24.02 image, it is not dated, but I seems to me that it is the one of april 2024. The thing is that I need a liveUSB of 24.04 both to make the clean install in one of the PCs and to use it to try to solve issues booting live with the same version of ubuntu. I checked dowloads here and I have seen that there is no 24.04 LTS image and that the ones that were available hae been archived. I wonder whether the reason is that there are still to many issues with this last realease. My other doubt is if the canonical undated image may be older and make things worse. I guess that a usb for installation will also allow, as it was usual, to "try it" before install, which is the way to use it to boot and solve issues. Any experience or thoughts on this matter?
Hi, @mrnaer and welcome to the Ubuntu MATE Community!
The current image available here for download is 24.04.2
You say there is no 24.04 image. Perhaps you're confused.
Yes, you are right. My fault. Now I found it. The problem is that I used a google search to find it and it sent me here: https://releases.ubuntu-mate.org/
The only 24.04 images there were the ones archived: https://releases.ubuntu-mate.org/archived/
I had downloaded the image from Canonical (there it is dated 18-02-2025) and it is a 4.3GB image. Although I couldn´t find the date for the one here I just checked that the S5SUM number there and here is the same, so I am ok with that image. Thanks.
The right place to download it:
