I’m trying to record input from a CD player that is connected to my RPI 3 running Ubuntu Mate 16.04, using a usb Alesis phono link device. The CD player is attached to this device with phono connections. I’m trying to record it in Audacity, In the sound preferences dialog box the device shows up OK in the input tab dialog. After selecting this, no input is registered. I’ve done this many times in the X86 install of Ubuntu Mate on a PC with no problems. Is there something different I should know about in the RPI.
