Very slow system boot with Ubuntu MATE 20.04

Have you tried with disabling NetworkManager and Samba?
systemctl disable NetworkManager
systemctl disable smbd nmbd

Or, have you enabled firewall? I do not know what is UFW BLOCK (Firewall?) but it is repeated several times. Even entres saying access denied for live-patch. If you have enabled firewall, does disabling help?

@SRoyPC: The sources are not correct. Start to clean it.
Show us the output of:

apt-cache policy | grep http | awk '{print $2 $3}' | sort -u
cat /etc/apt/sources.list | egrep -v "(^#.*|^$)"

Then, we clean up the sources.

Thanks @saivinob, however, none of these made any difference in the boot time. :frowning:

Thanks @Philippe

It's better, but there is still an error about this line. This source is for Ubuntu 14.04, we need to remove it, but we don't see the source in the previous output. So, go to control center, open Software and Updates, tab Other Software and untick the option about mashallofsound and untick Canonical Partner.

Both of them or only the first one?

Thanks @Philippe

15 seconds between these 2 operations is too long. I suggest you to study further about it.

46 seconds between these operations, very too long. Same suggestion about it.

48 seconds ! Same suggestion.

Again 40 seconds between these two operations. Same suggest.

You should further more about these all operations which take a long time, with the help of web search. Unfortunately, I can't help more about it.

Dear @Philippe your steps did help this issue to a significant extent, and I thank you sincerely for your time and patience.

Also, as advised, I'll do some research on these, and if I find a solution then I'll revert.

Thank you again.

I though another track: the health of your drive. Can you show us the output of:

sudo apt-get install --no-install-recommends smartmontools -y
sudo smartctl -s on -a /dev/sda
lsblk -d | egrep -v "NAME|loop|sr0"
