VLC lost its menu bar, so I un-installed it and the vlc-bin.
I was planning on reinstalling it.
Now Synaptic package manager says VLC is broken.
Fixing broken packages does not work either.
I have got VLC back.

If you don't mind, could you share with everyone the broad (or detailed?) steps you used to solve?
Was it a Synaptic issue ?
Did you reinstall using "apt-get" or "dpkg" ?
