VNC server on Ubuntu MATE

How can I run a VNC server on Ubuntu MATE and access it from android device?

Have a look at TightVNC server. They also offer a mobile VNC client for both Android ans iOS.

I thought TightVNC server was for Windows. The last version written for Unix/Linux is dated 2009.

What about X11VNC Server found in the Ubunu software center. Didn’t see anything in the Boutique.

TightVNC is in the repositories. I’ve used it recently and it works well.

sudo apt install tightvncserver

Do you plan on using this only on your local network, or are you wanting to access Ubuntu MATE while your away? If it’s while your away, you need to consider using something that supports encryption, or at the very least use ssh tunneling.

Edit: This may prove to be helpful as it has a section on X11VNC

https://help.ubuntu.com/community/VNC/Servers

Then there is online resources like https://www.nomachine.com/ which I have not used.

Thanks for the links. I like TightVNC, I will compare with X11VNC. Which ever is easier for tunneling.

@konmal88 Remote Ripple is what I use on my Android to connect to a Windows based VNC server.
