Wallpapers management

Hi,
If I install various wallpapers from the Ubuntu repos (e.g. the ones from Ubuntu, Ubuntu Gnome, UbuntuStudio…), they don’t show up in the Appearance settings. Looking at how they are installed, it looks like Mate is only displaying the ones in /usr/share/backgrounds/mate rather than the standard /usr/share/backgrounds. Is this the normal/expected behaviour?

Using Ubuntu Mate 15.10.

You can add the folders manually at the bottom of the backgrounds dialogue.

Yes, I know, but wouldn’t it be better if Mate used the standard way to manage wallpapers on Linux rather than having the user add every wallpaper (s)he installs from the repos one by one? I don’t understand why it’s done in the current way, unless it’s a bug in my system (as I tested a lot of environments, it might be a bit of a mess in my settings, though I doubt it comes from there).
