Weird issue with VLC and keyboard inputs on 18.10

Since I’ve upgraded to 18.10, I’ve noticed a really weird issue with VLC.

When I launch it (windowed), the keyboard inputs work fine (e.g. space to pause/play, F to toggle fullscreen…). If I go to fullscreen and don’t move the mouse, they still work. But as long as I move the mouse in fullscreen, making the status bar appear, they stop working (I can’t toggle back to windowed mode with F, I can’t pause with space…), even after the bar disappears automatically after a few seconds of not moving the mouse. When it happens, the mouse works fine, I can click on the buttons, I can double-click to toggle back to windowed mode, but the keyboard doesn’t work.

Anyone has the same issue?

Just had the opportunity to check this on GNOME and VLC works as expected, so it looks like it’s a MATE issue (specific to VLC ? VLC bug? issues with keyboard management in fullscreen apps?).
