In 16 through 18 I had the ability to hit ctrl-space to launch a small search bar from which I could quickly type application names and hit enter to launch said program. It looked like this:
Does anyone know how I can get this back, or what it was called?
This application is called Synapse - if it's still available in the current release but not installed, try sudo apt install synapse .
Thank you so much! This is exactly what I needed.
In case some poor soul suffers the same fate as me, the final step is to go to the keyboard shortcuts area in preferences, add a new entry with the name and command "synapse" and then you can set a keyboard shortcut.
FYI for quickly finding and launching apps you can also do ALT+F2.
