What is the exact function of the package “ubuntu-mate-core”?
It’s a metapackage, a package that lets you install a group of packages my installing this one package. ubuntu-mate-core is the basic MATE system, while ubuntu-mate-desktop is the full desktop. You can see what it includes here: http://packages.ubuntu.com/xenial/ubuntu-mate-core.
Thank you very much! Last time, when I was uninstalling a software, this package was automatically uninstalled. I reinstalled it manually in case there will be bugs without it.
