What program is recommended to make .iso files?

I want to make .iso files from DVD and file, mostly video related. Can anyone recommend a program that will run on Mate 18.04.1? [ideal if in Synaptic Package Manager]

I’d recommend Brasero, it’s been Ubuntu’s pre-installed disc burner for many years, which can produce traditional CDs, data discs and video DVD/SVCD as well as copying/burning to disc or create image files (.cue or .iso)

If you wanted a quick way to create images of existing discs, you can use the pre-installed Disks utility and “Create disc image…”

I have found Brasero to be very flaky recently, to be honest, and I have found many other users reporting similar problems with it. Though, it has been about four months since I last used it. So, whatever was wrong with it may have been fixed.

I am currently using xfburn and it’s working well.

+1 for xfburn, simple and reliable (unlike brasero in my experience).
The option to create an iso is somewhat difficult to find though. In the data composition you need to click proceed to burn button and then check the ‘only create iso’ option.

That is very helpful and clear. Thank you.
