What version do I bug report on?

I think I've found a bug in the Disks program, and in an attempt to do the correct thing, want to report it (exactly how is another problem)

When I run the program I frequently see the model and serial number of the disks I'm working with is corrupted. However when i use GSmartControl theses entries are fine (they model number is also reported correctly in GParted).

When I do an About Disks in the disks application I see two version numbers.
gnome-disk-utility 3.34.0
UDisks 2.84

Please explain to the noob, what program I should report this bug in gnome-disk-utility and/or Udisks.

Please also advise how I should know which way to go if I find other bugs in other programs with 2 (or more?) program/version number listed like my example.

Thanks in advance

To find out what the actual application to report might be, use Control Center> Main Menu> Accessories> Disks> Properties> and under Command, find gnome-disks.

Good luck @OldNerd.

Edit: To report bugs, here are two sources on how to do that -

Thanks.

But I don't know if the bug is best reported here (Mate) or on the Unbutu bug tracker (?) or even on the gnome-disk-utilites page on gitlab?

Obviously I can report it here - as it's in the distribution I'm running it on - but if this is the non-optimal place then aren't i just tieing-up developers here when I should have reported it 'there' and got them to fix it?

Assuming it needs to be fixed externally to Mate - will i need to do another bug report (using a whole new and confusing system) or are bug reports somehow shared?

Sorry to ask so many dumb questions, but as a noob, I'm finding it VERY difficult to know where to start (much of the information I'm finding is either unclear to me, contradictory, or just real hard to find) .

Want to do the right thing, but its real easy to see why people don't report....

probably on the gnome disk utilities page in this case as it seems to be with the application itself

MATE is smaller than Ubuntu, here we do not really maintain core GNOME components.
All Ubuntu packages are presented on special site https://packages.ubuntu.com . For this particular package you will have the https://packages.ubuntu.com/eoan/gnome-disk-utility page. In the right part of the page it has special links (see yellow rectangle for guide):

Please consider filing a bug or asking a question via Launchpad before contacting the maintainer directly.

So you have to report the bug to Launchpad by using command ubuntu-bug gnome-disk-utility or apport-bug gnome-disk-utility. It will create new bug report for the GNOME Disks package. The list of already known bugs in GNOME disks is available on https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gnome-disk-utility . For more productive results you can report this bug to GNOME gitlab and cross-link two bug-reports (on Launchpad and on GitLab).
