What version of PHP is provied with a LAMP if any

I have a Pi-II which is now running Raspian. I use it as a web-server for testing purposes.
Alas, the PHP in the webserver is PHP Version 5.4 and from the looks of it, Raspian has no intent of upgrading soon.
One of my projects needs PHP 5.6.
Is there an easily installable LAMP in Ubuntu Mate that has a PHP > 5.5 ?
