Which site is "master" repository for MATE Desktop?

When I tried to access specific files in this code tree (https://git.mate-desktop.org), I kept getting a message that the files were not available:

FileNotFound

When I did a search on google, I found this other repository at
https://github.com/mate-desktop/.

Access to those files was granted.

Questions that come to mind are

  • Is the first site limited to privileged access ?
  • If not, if it is defunct, why is it there at all ?

Dates seem to be recent enough to reflect an active site.

If one is the master, which one is it ?
If interdependent, how do they relate ?

Thank you.

the first one works for me and points to:

Thank you, @pavlos_kairis, for looking at that.

I get the directory listing, but, if you try to click on one of the *.png files, do you get the error that I got?

Hi, @ericmarceau

In the web page "Development | MATE" - https://mate-desktop.org/development/ - I've found the following information:

"(...)

Code

The git repositories for MATE Desktop are hosted on GitHub.

You can browse the code with cgit here too:

So, I'm guessing it is a better "bet" to browse the code and other files of the "git" repositories of the "MATE Desktop" project by using their "GitHub" repositories.

Having said that, I see that the web pages in the https://mate-desktop.org/ web site have the following footnote:

Contents ยฉ 2024 The MATE Team [ [email protected] ]

So, you may want to send an e-mail to that [email protected] e-mail address and report the "404 Not Found" nginx errors that are appearing in some of those https://git.mate-desktop.org URLs. Hopefully, someone at the "MATE Desktop" project is reading the e-mail messages that are sent to that e-mail address and will take some action.

I hope this helps
