This is probably a controls theme problem as it does disappear when i change it, but its been annoying me for the past couple of days and i really want to make it disappear in some way, any help would be appreciated.
I am using Redmond panel, I lost the theme link as it's on my PC which is away for now. I will try to get it in the morning.
If you right-click on the white (panel???), do you get options that you can adjust, similar to the following?
If so, you can set it to fully transparent. 
I tried , however it just stays in there. I think if I looked through the gtk3.0 files in my theme ill find the issue since that's where the problem is.
Also, if I wanted to use a colored panel the text would be black, and id love to change its color if I could.
The only way I have been able to change the color of the text has been to chose a different theme.
