Wifi problem on Raspberry pi 3

I’m new to raspberry and also Ubuntu mate, need advise on the problem below.

I have a Raspbeery pi 3 and try to connect to Enterprise wifi after install Ubuntu mate 16.04 on it.

When I try to select the private key in editing wifi setting, it not able to view the .pem file from the place we save.
The .pem file is the available in the /root/Downloads/, but when we click on “choose your private key”, direct to /root/Downloads/ it show me empty folder.

The .pem files is available when we choose the user certificate option in editing wifi setting.

Is there anything I miss while setting up that causing this problem?

Have you tried moving it into a standard user folder (not root) and get the same results? Also, is the filter looking for a .pem file?

I tried with normal user and root, both giving the same situation.
