Will 16.04.3 install on non UEFI legacy system?

As title states. My Lenovo K 430 is best off on legacy. Nothing but trouble with uefi, gpt and all that.

Thanks. fonz

Sure you can, this is known as BIOS, Legacy or CSM. You will need to set this in your BIOS/Firmware settings (usually by holding F2, DEL or F8 while the system boots). Once your computer's mode is set, you're ready to install 16.04.3 (amd64).

If you choose to do "Something else" partitioning, you should use MBR for compatibility, but be aware this has a disk limit of 2 TB (which is just OK according to your hardware specs).

If you go to a live session, you can confirm whether your device is in BIOS or UEFI in :ubuntu_mate: Welcome --> Installation Help --> Installation Preparations.

I’m running an AMD 64 X2 system that does not have a UEFI BIOS. So far I can get into recovery mode (and simply exit recovery mode) and I can boot that way, but I have another issue (which I’m working on) that is stopping default boot.

Thank you lah7. Well done by the way.
