I heard that Mate didn't apply to canonical about The chance to have 26.04 as LTS. is that true?
Hi, @EmeraldBox and welcome to the Ubuntu MATE Community!
No applications are made to Canonical; applications are made to the Ubuntu Technical Board, which I've mentioned on this site, but please read on. Not all members of the Ubuntu Technical Board are employees of Canonical.
There are multiple threads & questions about that issue on this site; have you looked at any?
The last release the Ubuntu Release team published was Ubuntu 24.04.4 LTS, which I wrote about on this site here
You'll note the official flavors involved are listed there, with me quoting from an official announcement, before I mention the unofficial Ubuntu MATE 24.04.4 ISO can be downloaded.
My own writings on the topic can be found in the above links, or here if you don't want to read the whole threads.
I didn't specifically answer that, but if you follow the links I talked around it a little, and especially the noble.4 or 24.04.4 release here; though that is more recent & thus I'm using it as its probably easier for me to find (thus the link for that one).
Not all team communications are public, though most (or much) are. I don't go looking for stuff if I miss it unless I have a specific need for it (Ubuntu News purposes usually); though I do read almost everything as it flows through my inbox.
You can search the mailing list archives yourself if you're interested though, or search the irc/matrix(?) logs too, and see some of the communications, including attempted communications.
Ubuntu MATE is mentioned rather often in various meetings, but then again most (if not all) flavors are too. All flavors are treated equally.
