Wine installed but not appearing!

Hi guys and gals,
I've installed Wine a few days ago but it never appeared in my menu !
The Boutique even says that Wine has been found twice whenever I look for the word 'Wine' ...!!!

No way I can run a Wine program for I've never been able to run it so as to install anything within it.
What should I do ?

I have the same problem, I found under the accessories menu winetricks. I hope this helps. Also you may be able to turn it on in the main menu settings. You can find this in the preferences menu under look and feel. Click on main menu and click on the other category, wine is there in the second column you might have to scroll down. it will be in italics click on it and it should change to plain text. Check in your menu under other it should be there now.

Wine actually appears there if I tick it but no icon is automatically attributed, I’d have thought installing Wine from the Boutique would have done it all right automatically just like for any other software.

to my knowledge, there is no wine “app” in the sense icon, window etc. Wine once installed only manifests itself in the sense when you double-click a window app, it is launched (by wine).
You also can adjust wine itself by launching winetricks. (from the terminal)

When Wine is (or was?) installed through the Ubuntu repositories, they added some extras in their packaging so it created launchers and appeared in its own dedicated “Wine” menu. The problem with these packages is that they are not updated as frequently.

Software Boutique gets the official Wine packages, packaged by the Wine team themselves, and these do not add entries in the menu.

So, it’s normal this happens, but Wine is installed and ready to use as @Herve5 says. If you wish to do more advanced things but don’t want to use a terminal, consider a front-end like PlayOnLinux.
