error message from search " You've performed this action too many times," when searching for a topic

I've seen this one or twice too, I thought it was just a glitch but it seems that I was not the only one.

Are you doing a lot of searches? Like, 20 searches within a minute?
I can't see any settings we can change to change this, but I can see your account is at "Basic" (trust level 1) at the moment. As a guess, I'd imagine higher trust levels (Basic → Member → Regular) are less strict on the repeated search action.

Like, 20 searches within a minute? no not any where near, what i find if i ask a question and no answer, and i come back later sometimes days later i immediately get the too many questions response, maybe it doesn't like that i block cookies, and regularly use vpn/ by the way thanks for responding.
Sounds like a VPN thing, especially since the IP address could have been used by others within 24 hours. Turns out there are rate limits per minute/day, so I guess whichever IP address the VPN used, another user/bot/anonymous visitor already hit the limit.
If the VPN allows it, try cycling a different IP address if you see the error again. If other actions also don't work (e.g. liking post), it's definitely this limit.
Being logged in may reduce the odds of hitting the limit.
