I’m a new linux user (read minimal skill set) and just installed MATE 16.04 on a new Dell XPS 15 9550. I set up an encrypted home folder during installation and got the ‘Please enter passphrase for cryptswap1’ error during start up that seems to be well reported on for 15.04.
I found this solution online http://askubuntu.com/a/720892
The only change I made was that the directory /dev/disk/by-id didn’t exist so I changed it to /dev/disk/by-uuid
After running sudo dd if=/dev/zero of=/dev/nvme0n1p7 bs=512 count=20480, I stopped getting the passphrase request, but now it takes several (~5) minutes to boot up.
The long boot up is worse than the passphrase request so I changed /etc/crypttab back but it didn’t change back - still no request and a super long boot time.
I’m not sure if the time could be the result of the swap partition not encrypting/timing out.
Any input would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks.
