Discussion habits

Hey, I have a question regarding this community forum. Do we prefer to open for every question a new discussion, or can I develop one topic. For example:

• my question is, how to install GIMP
• somebody replies
• I encounter and error during installation
• should I open a new discussion about it, or should I discuss it within the first discussion?
