Has anyone got Emerald working on 16.04?

I haven’t used GNU/Linux since 2010. MATE has been a blessing; really hated that Unity thing and Gnome3 as well. Most of my favorite themes don’t include window borders for Metacity. Also, those who do don’t seem to work with the pre-installed version of Compiz, why is this? Thanks in advance for your help.
